About Us

Triple Y is a community station based in Whyalla, South Australia – the steelworks town. Triple Y has been broadcasting for nearly 35 years and plays an important role in the community of Whyalla.  We are a part of the fabric of our community; bringing local news, local music from local bands, and most importantly giving a voice to the community of Whyalla.

Triple Y is a not for profit association.  We are built on our membership, made up of members of the Whyalla community, and sponsorship from local businesses who support the station.

The Whyalla FM Public Broadcasting Association Incorporated provides an innovative and comprehensive broadcasting service to the city of Whyalla, that reflects the community’s needs.

Triple Y always does its best to accommodate the Whyalla community by playing music that is tailored to Whyalla’s community – it is a dynamic process and is constantly evolving. Triple Y has member shows, with people from our community in the station, playing their selection of music. This is available to anyone in the community and we welcome new memberships at anytime. Triple Y has strong members value’s and a set of policies set out that is approved by Triple Y’s board of management. Triple Y has policies on ensuring the safety and equal treatment of all members.

Triple Y appreciates the support from all of our sponsors.  Our sponsorship policy reflects the values of our community and meets our obligations under the Broadcasting Services Act 1992.
